My mum SWEARS by an IKEA feather pillow. Not sure if it’s the same one you have but it’s 100% down (rather than feather and down) and she sings its praises regularly. I also take our pillows with us on any UK break by car.
On the croissant note... my greatest disappointment is an ‘artisan’ croissant that is so crisp it shatters like glass and shards of pastry fly across the room with each bite.
Hotels are my biggest one I’d say. I’m completely obsessive about attention to detail and guest experience and I often check-out with a long list of helpful feedback points about everything from the placement of the pillows at turndown to the ambience at breakfast (whether they care is another matter...)
For me it’s also natural fibres/materials. I cannot and would not wear an acrylic jumper or coat, it MUST be wool. Likewise with shoes - the idea of wearing sweaty pleather 🤢
At university, an English lecturer insisted that heading and subheading titles shouldn’t be uppercase eg. Ice Cream should be ‘Ice cream’. It has stuck with me ever since but very few seem to follow that rule!
Ok so I did go and try and find out which pillow but I’ve ripped the tags off 😬. It’s their down pillows - very soft and squishy. Probably the higher end of their range but well worth it! I like my cushions very squishy, some like it firmer but they’re definitely worth a try. I also have a John Lewis one I love too!
Omg love every single one of those!

The pillow is getting some airtime - here and on Insta so I need to go and track it down and report back!
Most croissants are a disappointment - but then that’s the joy of finding a great one!
And sounds like we need to go on holiday together 😉
Stewart's ice cream is the best "grocery store" brand. I'll die on this hill! 🍨❤️
Haha.. is it though?! I promise to give it another go!
Thoughts on Perry’s Vanilla Bean? That one always gets my vote, but sure I’ve tried Stewart’s…
*not sure
I haven't heard of it until now. Will lookout!
Couldn’t agree more on the butter and ikea pillows. People just do not believe it!!
Cheeky desert vs dessert* under ice cream rules ;)
You win the prize. You’re the first person to have caught it (although technically it is correct on Substack 😉)

I think much of that is a stylistic thing too. It looks better capitalised on both in a heading
I very much agree with all of this - am adding the misspelling of “weird” to the list too
Are you able to share any additional detail about the IKEA pillow? Would love to try it!
